Does my insurance cover therapy?

Psychotherapy is currently covered by many insurances and it can be found in your benefits plan description as “Mental health care” or “Behavioral health care”.

If you have insurance through your employer, mental health services may be covered, although employers are not required to offer mental health coverage. All marketplace plans cover mental health and substance abuse services, considered essential benefits. Specific details as copayment and allowed sessions, will depend on the specific plan.

Private-pay counseling:

Many full- insured people prefer to pay out-of-pocket as you have greater control of the frequency and number of sessions, and you can see the therapist of your choice. Also, although details of therapy are confidential, insurances require a diagnosis to cover services, and many issues, including marital problems or personal growth are not covered by insurance.

Call us and we will help you verifying eligibility.

Insurance plans we currently cover:

  • Aetna
  • AvMed
  • Beacon
  • Cigna
  • ComPsych
  • Concordia
  • Humana
  • Magellan

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy, also called “talk therapy”, or simply “therapy” is the process of identifying and treating emotional and behavioral symptoms that affect your life and wellbeing. Treatment could include a variety of techniques determined by the therapist’s preferred approach. Modern psychotherapy is time-limited, with weekly appointments and it is focused on specific goals. It can be used in combination with medication, depending to the disorder and level of distress.

The Psychotherapy Relationship

The relationship with the psychotherapist is different from other relationships, as the purpose is only on supporting you, the client. You can talk about any personal issues that affect your life, relationships, or work, and your information is expected to remain confidential (see limits of confidentiality). The relationship is strictly professional, thus extending the connection outside the therapy setting is not considered appropriate as it might be harmful to the client.

Would therapy help me?

Psychotherapy can be beneficial in the treatment of variety of issues, including chronic emotional distress, relationship issues, coping with the loss of a loved one, or trauma-related symptoms.

Children’s behavioral problems, fears, and attachment, school performance can also be treated in therapy.

Perhaps, you do not have a condition or symptoms but know that your life can be better. Therapy can help you learn about yourself, your limiting beliefs and getting skills to get you to a more fulfilling life.
